Coffee with my friend Robyn …

Three hours later, as usual …

Spilling over with laughter and excitement as we share what God has done …

Hands waving in the air as her story unfolds …

And then …

A Divine Interruption

A beautiful, lanky, grey haired, 80 something woman, approached our table and shared, that she also talks with her hands; in fact she is an interpreter for the deaf.

She then questions, “Helping the deaf should give me some points in heaven, right?”

Ahhh and there it was, a God opening.

Robyn and I catch each other’s eyes.

Robyn listens while praying silently, for this dear woman.

I replied, “What’s your name?”

“Gladys.”

I continued, “Gladys, the Bible says that salvation is a free gift, not of works lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9) And that …. as many as received Jesus, God gives them the right to become children of God. (John 1:12) Gladys, have you surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior?”

Smiling, she slowly holds out her hands, palms up and points to the inside of her palm, “I won’t believe until I see the nail prints in His hands.”

I reply, “Gladys, the Bible says, blessed is he who believes without seeing.”

Taking a step closer, she tries to make light of the conversation and with a chuckle, questions my friend sarcastically, “Are you with her?”

I reply, “Yes she is. As a matter of fact she is just like you, she also ministers to the poor. The only difference is that she has the power of the Holy Spirit upon her, because Jesus Christ is her Lord and Savior. And Gladys, if you make Jesus your Lord and Savior, you too will have the anointing of God on your ministry. You will see into the hearts of those you are helping… and you too will be able to touch hearts for God. Gladys, you are not here by accident. This is a divine appointment. God is calling you to an intimate relationship with Himself. Would you like to sit down right now and receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord?”

Gladys responds, “I have to be somewhere … I have to go …”

I say, “Gladys, God is calling you, today is the day of salvation.”

She responds, “I don’t know how much time on this earth, I have left.”

As she steps away from our table, with her eyes still glued to us, I say, “Gladys, you have a decision to make.”

Annoyed, she nods her head and says, “I know. Why did I ever stop at your table?”

Gladys walks away … into eternity … with a decision on her heart …

Robyn and I pray for Gladys …

God loves Gladys so much that He drew her to our table, to bring a Divine Interruption. We can only hope and believe that we will meet her again on the other side of eternity.

God Interruptions are all around you …

Keep your eyes open to what God is doing, so you can join Him.
