Prayer & Journaling Tips

Prayer Tips

1. Set aside uninterrupted, quality time for God.

2. Bring your Bible, pen, and journal to your quiet place of prayer.

3. Keep a clean heart. Confess any un-repented sin.

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Psalm 66:18 KJV

4. Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. When you don't know not how to pray the Holy Spirit will pray through you.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” Romans 8:26 NIV

5. Pray God’s Word. His word will not return void.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 NKJ

6. Keep your requests in line with His will. Praying scripture helps you do this. For specific needs there are many scriptures you can pray.

Click here for some of them.

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us-- whatever we ask-- we know that we have what we asked of him.” I John 5:14-15 NIV

7. Pray without ceasing. (1 Thess 5: 17) Praying without ceasing simply means to pray every time an opportunity presents itself as you remain in a constant attitude of dependence upon God.

8. Praying through.

“And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't get discouraged and give up.” Galatians 6:9 TLB

9. Pray in the name of Jesus!

“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14 KJV

10. Put on the Armor of God. Pray Ephesians 6:14-18 and put on the whole armor of God. To learn how, click armor.

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 KJV
