Scripture Prayers for the Tongue
Dear Lord, help me to use a gentle answer that turns away wrath, not a harsh word that stirs up anger. (Prov 15:1 NASU)
By faith I declare that my tongue is gentle [with its healing power] and is a tree of life, and I do not allow willful contrariness in it because it breaks down the spirit. (Prov 15:4 AMP)
I choose to use long forbearance and calmness of spirit so that even a judge or ruler is persuaded, and I use soft speech that breaks down the most bonelike resistance. (Prov 25:15 AMP)
The tongue of the wise brings healing, so help me to have a wise tongue. (Prov 12:18 NASU)
I am a wise woman that builds her house, not a foolish one that tears it down with her own hands. (Prov 14:1 AMP)
I open my mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on my tongue. (Prov 31:26 NASU)
My tongue has the power of life and death, and I choose to speak words of life, not death. (Prov 18:21 NIV)
The servant of the Lord must not be quarrelsome (fighting and contending). Instead, he must be kindly to everyone and mild-tempered [preserving the bond of peace]; he must be a skilled and suitable teacher, patient and forbearing and willing to suffer wrong. Help me, Lord, to become such a servant. (2 Tim 2:24 AMP)
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. (Ps 19:14 NASU)
I will guard my ways, that I may not sin with my tongue. (Ps 39:1 NASU)
I will keep my tongue from evil, and my lips from speaking deceit. (Ps 34:13 NASU)
I will not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but I will give a blessing instead; for I was called for the very purpose that I might inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9 NASU)
